Shifting 3D Printing from an Additive to a Focus | US

Level up your everyday lessons with hands-on tools that spark curiosity

Discover how 3D design and printing can move beyond a novel tech extra and become a powerful focus that deepens learning across core classroom subjects.

Too often, 3D printing is relegated to an isolated side project or reward. In this practical workshop, educators will learn how to transition 3D design into a core instructional tool for math, science, humanities, and literacy. Explore how intuitive CAD software fosters spatial reasoning, design thinking, and student agency—without taking time away from required academic standards.

We will demonstrate several turnkey lesson ideas directly supporting standard curricula, from designing historic artifacts to building custom geometric manipulatives. You’ll leave with ready-to-use classroom activities, practical management strategies, workflow tips, and techniques to adapt projects for all age groups and skill levels.

The workshop will also address practical management strategies, workflow tips, and ways to adapt 3D design projects across various age groups and skill levels, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all learners

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Integrate 3D Design into Core Standards

I can identify clear opportunities to align 3D modeling and printing projects with existing general education learning objectives across subject areas.

Shift Mindsets from Novelty to Focus

I understand how to leverage 3D design as a primary medium for student inquiry, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning rather than an isolated technology lesson.

Implement Ready-to-Use 3D Classroom Lessons

I have access to adaptable, plug-and-play lesson ideas and practical classroom workflow strategies that I can immediately execute with my students.
